About Nonprofit and Church Law - About the Organization

Nonprofit and Church Law Ministries, Inc. is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization. Our purpose is to provide current, practical information to churches and small and mid-sized religiously oriented exempt organizations on legal and financial developments that could affect them. There are tens of thousands of small to mid-sized nonprofit organizations, including churches, in existence today that do not have access to affordable or reliable information on how developments in the law affect them. And they do not know where to learn about the best practices of exempt organizations or how to implement them once they learn. Many of these organizations are at risk of either violating the law and thus putting the existence of the organization in jeopardy, or failing to enact proper procedures and internal controls that could leave the organization open to existence-threatening lawsuits. Our organization provides current, accurate, and practical information that will assist these nonprofits.

Currently, the primary means of assistance is through a regular newsletter and a website. There are two versions of the newsletter. One is a free version that is accessible via the web to anyone who wants it. This newsletter sets out in brief, bullet point format, some of the most current developments in the area of nonprofit law.

For those organizations that desire a more in-depth analysis of legal and financial developments, a subscriber’s version of the newsletter is available. This contains detailed analysis and ways to practically apply the lessons of the various cases, rulings, and new laws that are constantly being enacted.
