As a result of 1997 interim regulations, the Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) has revised the Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification and published an updated Handbook for Employers to aid in the completion of the form. Employers are encouraged to start using the new form immediately for all new hires on or after November 7, 2007.
