Virginia Episcopal churches that separated from the ECUSA have conquered the first hurdle in their attempt to keep the property housing their congregations. On April 3, 2008, a Fairfax County Circuit Court affirmed the applicability of a Virginia statute in resolving the ongoing property dispute among the Episcopal Church in the United States of America (ECUSA) and its former members, many of whom joined the Convocation of Anglican Nigerians in America (CANA) after the ECUSA began ordaining and supporting homosexual bishops.
