In the most important church discipline case since Guinn v. Church of Christ (Oklahoma 1989), the Texas Supreme Court disagreed with Guinn decision in key ways such as ruling that
- the Court could not hear cases of church discipline under existing tort theories; and
- the pastor was not liable for divulging confidential information to the members in the context of church discipline.
